Lunchtime visitors
Yesterday at lunch I took a look out at my feeders and saw a group of 3 pine siskins waiting in line for their handout. These are the first ones I have seen since autumn. I thought they were year round residents of the Salt Lake Valley, but it seems like maybe not. As far as I could tell they were all females. I sat in the window well near the feeders and used the bird song from the iPhone app iBird Explorer Pro and called one of them to land right on the edge of the well about 2 feet away from me. It was pretty cool. If you don’t have iBird Explorer Pro but you have an iPhone or Touch and you like birds, you should definitely get this app.
